The US Embassy has told me that they cannot come and get us, so we have to wait it out here. The sounds and feel of fighting is louder and closer. The walls and windows here shake, and we can feel the explosions. OK, fighting is right at the gate of the hotel. We’re all […]

Gabriel, Katie-Jay, Joshua and Jeremiah are still in the capital. They were in the hotel while the rebels were attacking the presidential palace and the hotel was caught in the cross fire. They are now evacuated to the French military base. Amidst the chaos they’ve been uploading blog posts and videos. Watch them here »
It has started.
Fighting has broken out in Chad’s capital, N’Djamena. We can hear and feel the explosions, since the Presidential Palace is very near. I came out to the lobby to see what was happening this morning because we were getting phone calls with people talking in French or asking for someone that was not in our […]
Greetings from the N’Djamena, Chad – the capital, and at the moment one of the many hotspots of instability in Chad. First things first, our team is safe. We get regular updates from the General Manager and the French have a regular presence on the grounds, including a few great views of the city from […]
Hello from N’Djamena: We made it safely out of Eastern Chad, right before violence and instability broke out; we could have been stuck there, since the road we last traveled was closed down the very next day. Our friends in the camps are not as lucky, with aid staff being relocated and services being stopped; […]
Travelling home
Gabriel, Katie-Jay, Joshua and Jeremiah have just finished their recent trip to the refuge camps! They are now in N’djamena, along with many evacuated UNHCR staff. The situation on the ground now is grim, with camp staff evacuated out from Guereda, Mile and Kounoungou. The camps they were at just a few days ago were […]
Today’s action

G’s Journal—day 12 (and 11 and 10) I’m again writing from up in the air, flying over the Chadian desert on our way back to N’Djamena. Day 12 is the last day of our fourth i-ACT, but it is not the end of our “interactive-activism.” We have to see it with the energy of beginners. […]
Full.
Day 12 We make a quick stop to wrap up unfinished business in Farchana before heading out to Gaga, then on to Abeche. Our last day in the camps. The wind blows harshly in the morning sun as women line up to receive monthly rations and, a for a few, they receive white sheeting for […]

Self-Reflection
We want to encourage everyone following i-ACT to take a step back and reflect on the self. Ask yourself: what am I actually doing to help the people of Darfur? Have I done all the daily actions? After the reflection process with another 11 days of i-ACT and only one day left to come, I […]
