what a privilege to move among these people, welcomed without threat or hardship into their humble, transient lives that continue despite the limits to material resources. in so many ways it is a terribly awkward, irrepressible uneasiness that i feel wandering among the physical and social fabric of their lives… may peace and opportunity find a place in the lives of the newborns who enter the world among these makeshift structures…
