Day 10: June 24, 2009 Take Action

Day 10 Action: Darfur 101

Many people still ask, Who or What is Darfur? I know that each and every one of us has at least 10 friends who, if we broached the subject, would ask just that. Here is your chance to invite them to learn about Darfur in 5 minutes.

  1. Email this short description (or write your own) to 10 friends with a link to today’s video: Darfur 101.
Not sure what Darfur is? Check out Darfur 101, it will only take 5 minutes. If you have time, read a little on the site too. Knowledge is power; power to make a difference.
  2. The i-ACT team heads to Camp Kounoungo today for the first time in over a year. Stay tuned for a few more days of i-ACT from the Chad-Darfur border: same-day videos, photos, journals and reunions with old friends as far back as i-ACT1!

Very well done and informative 5 minutes. I just posted it to my facebook page and it’s the first thing I’ve ever posted on fb since I’m not very good at the whole social network thing although I’m starting to realize it can be a very effective form of communication. Only have a few friends on it outside of family and relatives but hopefully those few will watch it and pass it on to others.

Hi Teresa!

Ian has been an amazing addition to the team and is constantly giving us ideas like making Darfur 101. Sometimes I think I am too close and my creative abilities become stale. Gabriel has sent an email to one of the primary game creators for iPhone applications. Wouldn’t it be cool to have a game for putting al-Bashir behind bars on the iPhone? Not everyone would play it but for .99 cents, many would buy it just to support it. When I first got on facebook I hardly used it, I was actually tricked into signing up because I thought a friend was sending me photos from Puerto Rico. In the end I use it for Darfur so much and many, many of my friends from all the way back to high school are now engaged in Darfur. It’s truly amazing. see you soon.

best, ktj

This is great, team!

I love the addition of background music to the videos this trip.

I continue to post your videos on my blog.

Could a few of the organizations, such as
put together some money to post one, two or three… of your videos in between the “news” shows on TV? You know since they ignore this “real” news…

Thank you for all you are doing to bring this into our lives.
