Love your comments…

11/21 10:57pm

Hey everyone!

I just read comments from quite a few of you. It was good to hear from Redondo and North Torrance High! Andre, thanks for the support. JC, Gina, mi Zahara…it’s great to hear from you, and I take the words to heart. Clarity is Power, Gina, and I hope some of our leaders attain some of THAT power.

Sarah from MSM’s, you are showing what the power of one can do; you’re a great leader, and your friend Aida hit it right on the nail, on two nails actually. I also told Chris that the physical part of the city looked like some of the little towns in Mexico, but on other aspects it has a completely different feel. Also, we have to remind ourselves that this is the capital of the country. Aida, the other nail that you hit on the head, we should all feel that this tragedy IS happening to people we know because we do know them. They are like us, so if we know ourselves, we know them.

Jess, I do find myself looking around in disbelief. I did not really have a chance to let it think in that I was coming. It has been a one year race, and I was very much in the moment at each point, but knowing that there is a goal in the future that I wanted to reach. Chris says that it was like a self fulfilling prophesy, i-ACT, where we dream it and then make it happen (he also used the “build it and they will come” quote from that baseball movie from back when KC was still starring in hits).

Thanks to everyone else that has written. I do not have the comments here with me, but thanks Alyson, prima Liz, Mom, Tom, Josh, Myra, and all the others.

Please stay tuned. We’re working the system to get to the camps. When we get to Abeche, we’re rounding third (staying with the baseball analogy). Big hug to all.

Hey Gabriel,

Man, Good job with the video. I think showing us more videos will make all these people know what you are seeing threw your eyes.Good idea. “Oh” Thanks for getting back at everyones comments. Good luck.(Pali High)
Hope to see you in 21 days, possibly at pali.
See ya

Gabriel,

Were you able to interact with the kids? Do they smile or do they also look sad like the adults. Not wanting to mingle…? Are they scared of strangers? Do people from Darfur make it all the way to N’D?

Hope you can round to third soon.

Rachel

Gabriel, I went to the site this a.m. and could not believe my eyes when I saw “Day 1”. You know how worried I was with the tech side but you have all made me into a believer. Where there is the will….. I don’t know how many hits we are getting but we are sure to get lots more . What a great first day! Remember to re-energize yourself by stopping and thinking about what a great thing you are doing.Heros are people who save lives. You are truly a modern day hero. And thank-you to the entire team. Today is the first day to “Stop Genocide Now”
-Stay safe!

Hola Gabe,
Mom says that everything you are capturing she hopes leads to miracles. Have faith and work in what is only possible. You can be sure that the information will be helpful to improve the future. Try to eat well and take care.

Ok, take care and I hope your days are productive and you achieve your goals.
Best

Hey Gabe,

I sent out the connection to Day 1 of i-ACT to about 300 folks on my email list. I sent it out with lots of excitement, aware of the enormous potential for saving lives that comes with this project. And I sent it out with lots of pride in sharing with my friends what a special brother I have.

FYI…On the day i-ACT is launched, the LA Times runs an editorial entitled “No peace in Darfur” describing the escalating violence and the urgent need for action.
Some of us would call this providential.

Check out the editorial at:

Hola Gabriel, Chris y los otros,

The videos are fantastic! Great camera work, Chris. I appreciate the background information that y’all are giving, too. Send more pans of where you are. It’s helpful to see the lay of the land. That will be even more powerful when you hit the camps.

Congratulations on making up your mind to do something and then just jumping in with both feet. One of my favorite quotes: “Leap and the net will appear.” (from the Artist’s Way). You’ve done that and it’s inspiring to watch.

Stay safe…stick with drivers you know…

I’d be very interested in seeing some of the children’s drawings that the gentleman spoke of in Video2.

Congratulations again on getting the word out on what is happening in Sudan. Your videos and blogs will make it real for many. I’m sending the link to everybody on my email list.

Vaya con dios, cynthia

First the editorial in the LAT’s, then, also on the same day that i-ACT is launched, the TV news show NIGHTLINE, (in their last cast prior to Ted Koppel’s retirement show) airs a documentary about Darfur. My mom would call it “coincidensia”. She would say (and some of us would agree) that Someone is showing their presence…letting us know that we’re not alone in this. Main thing to consider…timing is everything! Let’s continue to make LOUD NOISE!

Hi,
The videos are amazing, and so are you. It is so inspiring to see the videos knowing how hard you and everyone on the team worked to pull this off. I hope everything goes well and that you are able to get to the camps soon and safely. Good news here: the UC regents voted to consider divestment so they are going to vote on it the January meeting!
Thanks for all that you do,
Karina
