April is Genocide Prevention Month

In 2010, the California State Legislature proclaimed April of each year Genocide Awareness and Prevention Month (GAPM). The State Legislature chose April because several 20th century genocides, from the Armenian genocide to Cambodia and Bosnia, are commemorated during that month. California is the only state in the nation to declare a Genocide Prevention Month, making April 2011 a historic month for California, and for the nation.

Here are several events you can participate in during April 2011 Genocide Prevention Month in California (page forward to April!):

Event Hosts include: Stop Genocide Now, Jewish World Watch, San Francisco Bay Area Darfur Coalition, Orange County for Darfur, Genocide No More–Save Darfur, In His Shoes, USC’s Fight on For Darfur, UCSD’s Alpha Gamma Alpha, Office of Religious & Spiritual Life at Occidental College, Standford STAND, UCSC STAND

Are you hosting an event this April in California for Genocide Awareness and Prevention Month? Email ktj@stopgenocidenow.org to have it added to this calendar. You can also email KTJ if you have specific questions about events and she can put you in touch with the right group!

You really make it appear really easy with your presentation however I in finding this topic to be really one thing that I feel I might by no means understand. It kind of feels too complex and very wide for me. I’m taking a look ahead to your subsequent post, I’ll attempt to get the hold of it!
